Elon musk has being in the news quite a bit since he became CEO of Twitter. I must admit that I’m a bit of a fan of Elon, he strikes me as an extremely smart and interesting person.
So I was browsing the internet and came across an article on MacRumours stating that “Elon Musk pledges to build iPhone rival if Apple ousts Twitter.”
There have been widespread rumours that Tesla is working on a smartphone, however according to a tweet by Musk back in 2020 “smartwatches and phones are yesterday’s technology.”
But Imagine if Tesla did make a phone, I think this would be a bit of a game changer. Apple and Samsung have long been the leaders in Producing the best smartphones out there, at least in my opinion. I have always been an iPhone user but my wife recently picked up the Z flip 4 from Samsung and the design is really cool. But a phone from Tesla… could be interesting 🤔
Elon Musk is behind Starlink, a broadband internet system powered by approximately 3000 low earth orbit satellites and according to Wikipedia, Starlink aims to offer global mobile phone service some point after 2023. Could Musk produce a phone where SIM cards become a thing of the past? As someone that travels a lot, this is something that I would be really interested in. Imagine travelling to any country and having phone service and 5G data at all times. Not to mention being able to keep your phone number (again something I experience which is very annoying.)
So what would a Tesla phone even look like? Well there are quite a few images floating around online, but the most common is the one pictured here. The Model Pi.
There’s even rumours that the Model Pi would work on Mars! Talk about long distance call charges.
I think this is a little far fetched but then again I wouldn’t bet on doubting Elon. He has successfully managed to develop reusable rockets that land on a platform no bigger than a side plate in the ocean, maybe it could happen?
I’ve got to say, for me it looks pretty cool. This is no surprise as design is something Tesla is good at. Just look at their car line up, I think owning a Model Y is in my future.
Oh and since we’ll all be living in the real life version on the Jetsons, there’s even speculation of the Model Pi being compatible with a ‘Brain Machine Interface Chip’ developed by Neuralink, another company Elon is involved in. A chip that allows us to control the device with our thoughts…this could be a problem for me as I love to browse the web for the latest gadgets and they would definitely all end up in my Amazon basket 😂.
In all seriousness though, I would definitely like to see Tesla produce a phone and although Elon stated that phones are yesterdays technology, I think they’ll be around for quite a few more years. Plus if they do make a phone, I’d be able to say I own a Tesla much sooner.
